Artistic ability runs in my family, my Grandfather and Father were both great artists. I did not take any art classes when I was growing up and only dabbled a little bit with painting from time to time. I did not find art as my passion until I went back to Carroll College in 1999. I chose to go back to complete my degree that I had started back in the 70’s and thought it would be fun to take a ceramics class. Mike Imes was my teacher and I found him and his work to be truly inspirational. He had a great way of making students think about art through mythological stories and creative projects. I really enjoyed using clay to create sculptures inspired by natural forms and loved how the many different glazes added the finishing touch…I was hooked! I took more ceramics classes and started to get involved in the local art scene. My wife Jeanette was a huge supporter of this new form of expression and pushed me to continue to create at home, not just in class. I started to explore other forms of art and found that printmaking and pastels were also a favored medium. Most of my work is inspired by the human form and natural forms found in Nature.
Art has become a major force in my life and I thank God for giving me the ability to express myself through it!
