I have always been creative in one form or another, but it wasn’t until college that I realized how much my artistic expression meant to me. Creating art is a form of therapy…it’s good for the soul. I am able to work through tough times in my life and have it be a sort of documentation of where I have come from and what I have gone through.
I find that I am best able to express myself through texture, color and composition. I have worked with all kinds of mediums, but most of my work is painting with acrylic & oil and print making with silkscreen & wood cuts. Regardless of the medium, my work is often an abstract interpretation of natural organic forms and their struggle with the linear restrictions of the man made world.
What I love most about art is that everyone takes away something different and has their own idea of what the piece is all about… and based on that they either connect or relate with the piece, or they don’t. I feel that as an artist, if I am able to have at least one person connect with my work…then I have been successful.
