Dori Bischmann
Dori Ann Bischmann, PhD, a psychologist by day and an artist by choice. Dori, a psychologist for over 12 years, specializes in working with older adults in a variety of settings including nursing homes, hospitals and private practice. As a way to maintain freshness and energy for my psychology work, I have crafted and quilted.
After seeing the remarkable ways art could help my patients express feelings that they couldn’t express verbally and watching them use art to connect with others and share parts of themselves in a constructive way, I began experimenting with my own quilt creations to express feelings common to us all.
I like to use a combination of mediums such as hand dyed fabrics, beads, interesting threads and other objects that somehow symbolize the ebb and flow of life from the struggles to the joyful growth each of us experiences after going through a tough time. From wearable art to wall art, I never know what I will experiment with yet.
